Mike Ejeagha – Akuku Igbo Vol 1

Mike Ejeagha – Akuku Igbo Vol 1

We are saddened to learn of the passing of legendary Igbo folklorist, songwriter and musician Mike Ejeagha, widely known as “Gentleman Mike Ejeagha.

For many who were not old enough to know of his music, with the help of social media and popular skitmakers on TikTok his music was catapulted back into mainstream culture with the track “Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche” aka Gwo Gwo Gwo Gwo. Telling the tale of the slick trickster tortoise (Mbe) who tricked the mighty Elephant ( Enyi ) into bringing himself as a gift to the Princess.

He was met with praise and adoration as the youth and prominent member of society came to give the elderly musician his flowers. This truly goes to show that you never know when your time will come to be truly recognised for the what you have done on earth, but as long as the work is done and the talent or skill is utilised to it’s maximum capacity you can be rest assured that the right people will come across it in due time.

Gentle Mike had written produced, published and performed many songs and albums that we a privileged to have in our vintage collection of CDs, tapes & vinyl.

We’ve uploaded one for you all today! Akuko Ugbo Vol 1 which includes the famous track “Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche”.
